ABOUT THE HIP
The hip joint is designed as a ball-and-socket structure that enables multi-directional movement. It consists of the femoral head (the ball) located at the top of the thigh bone (femur), which fits into the socket (acetabulum) of the hip bone (pelvis). A cushion of spongy material (cartilage) and synovial fluid lubricates the interface between the femoral head and acetabulum, which is critical for normal activities such as walking, running, and climbing. However, an injured or diseased hip joint can lead to inflammation, resulting in stiffness, pain, and swelling.

HIP REPLACEMENT
Hip replacement surgery is one of the most successful surgical procedures performed today. The operation itself involves cutting and removing the upper thigh bone which connects to the hip socket.
In its place, a metal substitute is inserted into the upper end of the thigh which has a separate ball bearing surface attached. The hip socket is also resurfaced. In its place, a thin metal shell is inserted. Inside the metal shell is a special plastic which helps to improve the longevity of the hips success.

HIP REVISION
Hip Revision Surgery is required when either all or part of your hip components need to be revised. This can vary between the need to have a minor adjustment to a full explant in conjunction with replacing substantial bony anatomy
Total Hip Replacement (THR) procedure replaces all or part of the hip joint with an artificial device (prosthesis) with a plastic liner in between to restore joint movement.
